Aquatica Underwater Micro 4/3 Series Lens Chart for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera

In addition to lenses, ports are the most important component in an underwater housing system.

Aquatica ports have been used across the film and photography industry, in both the analog and digital age, for the past 25 years, and with good reason. Construction quality, image and color accuracy, and sharpness, coupled with their affordability, make Aquatica ports both reliable and of superior quality.

There are two basic port designs to consider – dome ports and flat ports. Dome ports are generally used with wide-angle and fisheye lenses, while the flat ports are used with macro lenses. Aquatica has two different dome ports available for the Micro 4/3 Series, ranging in diameter size from 100mm/4” to a super wide 200mm/8”. There are two flats ports to suit your specific macro needs.

Product Description

Installing an Aquatica port is easy. All Aquatica ports have a bayonet mount for quick lens changes in the field. For the last few years, Aquatica housings have been manufactured with a built in port lock. To install a port, simply press the housing port lock button and rotate the port 90 degrees, then release the button. Reverse the procedure to remove a port. It’s that simple. All Aquatica ports can be used in conjunction with extension rings, which are sometimes necessary in order to accommodate longer barrel lenses or, very importantly, to locate the optical center of the dome for optimal performance.

Refer to each housing/port specific lens chart to see if an extension ring is required for your specific lens. An extension to the port-locking collar is available to secure the port to the extension ring.

Note on lens compatibility:
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera supports use of Super 16 and Micro Four Thirds lenses. The Micro Four Thirds System (MFT) is a lens standard developed by Olympus and Panasonic for mirrorless cameras. The Aquatica/Amphibico housings and ports currently support use of the following Micro Four Thirds lenses.

The sensor size of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is 12.5 x 7mm which is slightly smaller than the Super 16 standard and smaller than the Micro Four Thirds standard. Consequently, when used with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera there is an effective crop factor of 2.88x. For example, a MFT zoom lens of e.g. 9-18mm will equal a 26-52mm zoom lens on 35mm DSLR camera.

Aquatica has announced plans of supporting “all popular [Micro 4/3 Series] lenses suitable for underwater usage”. The current list of supported Micro 4/3 Series lenses and required possible port extensions and gear are listed below. Please make sure when selecting lenses that they are compatible with your camera model.
